Alex Sheen, Founder
Alex Sheen is a four-time TEDx Talk speaker who is known for keeping promises to better humanity. He once even walked 240 miles across the entire state of Ohio to keep a charitable promise. His work has been featured on ABC World News with Diane Sawyer, Good Morning America, the TODAY show, Steve Harvey, and many other programs. Alex inspires audiences around the world to keep the promises they make. In 2017, he spoke at over 130 events in over 100 cities. Due to his personal sense of duty to charity, 100% of Alex’s speaking engagement fees are given to because I said I would, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
Amanda Messer, Co-Founder/Chief Technology Officer
At a young age Amanda learned the effect that promises broken have on relationships. Her father struggled with addiction and was not good with keeping his commitments to his little girl. Amanda was drawn to helping start because I said I would knowing that there are other people whose lives are deeply affected by broken promises. Amanda uses her deep personal connection to promises to inspire and motivate her audiences to become better with their commitments.
As the youngest of five children, Amanda grew up in Lorain, OH. In November of 2013, Amanda became because I said I would’s first full-time employee after over a year of volunteering her time to the cause. Prior to co-founding because I said I would, she worked at Hyland Software – one of Fortune magazine’s top 100 places to work in the United States. Amanda has also served as the Vice President for the Cleveland User Experience Professionals Association. She currently resides in Lakewood, OH, with her son, Trent, and her dog, Miska (pronounced Meesh-ka).

Chief Operating Officer & VP of Character Education
Kay Spatafore is a seasoned professional in both the business world and the educational space. She is an expert in helping people become the best version of themselves and we are honored to have such a talent on our team.

As Chief Operating Officer, she is also responsible for HR management and policies, direct management of several employees, acts as a consultant to the Founders on many different matters and, as a member of our executive leadership team, she has influence in decisions in all areas of the organization from budget to hiring.

Sung Beats, Beatboxer
Looking for entertainment for your event? World-renowned beatboxer, Sung Beats has joined because I said I would to help take your event to the next level. Equipped with nothing but a microphone and a loop pedal, he uses just his mouth to create fully-engaging, high-energy, bass-thumping music through an intricate process of recording and layering vocal sounds. His music is a metaphor for a promise. Promises add up to goals. His vocal sounds add up to incredible music.
