Role and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Founder, the Director of Speaking Engagements will dedicate most of their working time to securing speaking engagements for because I said I would speakers. We are looking to continue to build upon our success of booking speaking engagements in which 100% of the speaking fee goes to our nonprofit. The Director of Speaking Engagements will strategically handle over 600 requests per year and build upon current relationships and develop new strategic ways to promote and book speaking engagements to benefit the nonprofit. Other responsibilities include the following:

Responsibilities
  • Builds relationships with organizations from inbound speaking requests that come to us through our website, event tables, emails, social media messages, referrals and more.
  • Generates new cold or warm speaking engagement opportunity leads by researching events that require an inspirational keynote speaker or leadership workshop expert in industries, geographies or event dates that are of interest to because I said I would.
  • Cultivates strong and long-lasting relationships with speaker bureaus (talent agencies) who bring event opportunities to because I said I would.
  • Provides superior customer service to individuals representing speaking engagements in an honest, caring, detailed, timely and professional manner.
  • Develops and executes detailed and sometimes unique contracts for speaking engagements
  • Manages Salesforce CRM database of all speaking opportunities and contacts by logging notes and detailed information in account opportunities, creating informative reports, utilizing Salesforce apps that increase productivity and creating dashboards that make priorities clear.
  • Negotiates speaking engagement contracts in a manner that brings higher value to the organization through revenue, partnerships, advertising, merchandise or other agreements that generate value for one or both organizations involved.
  • Leads multiple direct reports including the Event Manager and Fulfillment Manager to maximize the number of speaking opportunities and the depth of value the organization gets from each opportunity (e.g., book sales, additional speech opportunities while traveling to a particular city, etc.)
  • Develops and implements long term and short term strategies for the organization that meets revenue targets through initiatives that account for internal and external strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
  • Leverages Salesforce CRM to develop automated and up-to-date financial forecasts of the speaking engagement pipeline in a manner that informs the Executive Team and their financial and investment decision making process.
  • Makes the sales and marketing process (related to speaking engagements) more efficient and effective by working with our Chief Technology Officer to automate or improve workflow processes in Salesforce.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university.
  • Four to ten years of sales experience and/or training in business-to-business industry with high-value accounts; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • He/she must be extremely detail-oriented and able to simultaneously manage dozens of business transactions and relationships.
  • Ability to motivate and create a positive atmosphere with the Speaking Engagement Team in the midst of ambitious goals and internal and external challenges that arise.
  • Honestly persuasive and appropriately emotional sales skills through empathetic communication.
  • Decisive and strong communicator – both written and verbal.

Mental Health Program Manager

Job title: Mental Health Program Manager

Role and Responsibilities

The Mental Health Program Manager will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will work with program team members and other staff across programs. This position offers an opportunity to inform, design and build programs that support mental health based on best practices and work directly with individuals by connecting with supporters.

Responsibilities:

  • Informs and designs educational programs based on research and best practices in mental health, collaborating with other team members
  • Improves staff competence by providing educational resources and trainings as needed
  • Using Motivational Interviewing and a collaborative approach to determine the immediate mental health challenges with the purpose of connecting them to longer term solutions to face their adversities. Clients may also be facing challenges with substance abuse, suicidal ideation, employment concerns, disease, bereavement and other challenges.
  • Accomplishes clients’ care by assessing needs; making recommendations, monitoring, and evaluating progress
  • Monitors cases through self-reporting and client check in; obtaining additional resources as applicable; intervening in crises; providing personal support.
  • Maintains clients’ records by reviewing case notes; logging events and progress.
  • Communicates clients’ progress by conducting weekly reporting
  • Handle crisis situations which may arise from their caseload bringing knowledge of crisis intervention for case stabilization;
  • Improves results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes; implementing changes; rewriting procedures when needed.

  • At least five years of experience in Mental health direct client interaction; Social Work or  – Master’s degree preferred – license in Social Work (LSW or LISW)
  • 2 years in developing relationships and partnerships with other Community outreach.
  • Possess demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Professional experience supporting individuals in group work

Corrections Program Manager

Role and Responsibilities

The Corrections Program Coordinator will report to the Chief Operating Officer and will work with program team members and other staff. The Corrections Program Coordinator is an important member of the organization and is responsible for providing support, creating curriculum, management, and oversight to the overall day-to-day operations of because I said I would’s Corrections program. Other responsibilities include the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage character education and volunteer projects programs and services in correction facilities including Juvenile detention centers, Reentry, Maximum Security Facility
  • Collaborate and independently develop program elements (with associated resources, i.e. curriculum, policies, etc.)
  • Understand program logic models and theories of change. Provide input into program design.
  • Develop strong, productive relationships with the 10-20 Correction facilities where programs and services are delivered.
  • Visit Correctional Facilities and deliver programing in person with offenders and also Train the trainer sessions

  • Ability to partner with agencies and institutions in the area of corrections.

Director of Marketing and Development

Role and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Founder & CEO, the Director of Marketing and Development will plan and implement a development and fundraising program to provide for the short- and long-term needs of the organization.  The successful candidate will possess depth in B2B experience and e-commerce as well as the ability to help forge new relationships to build because I said I would’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee all donor engagement; increase individual giving through donor solicitation and stewardship, and independent coordination of Social media campaigns and e-appeals
  • Develop content for Social Media campaigns including storyboarding, video script writing, and consulting on production 
  • Create persuasive email content for fundraising marketing campaigns
  • Leverage Salesforce and Pardot to manage email marketing flows for fundraising campaigns  
  • Develop mass marketing campaigns such as sweepstakes, that begin with a $50 ask and create a $10-200K return.
  • Create fundraising programs that can be executed by because I said I would supporters (i.e. fundraising kits) in geographically distributed areas.
  • Meet regularly with the Executive Leadership Team and ensure that  fund raising development is carried out in ways which align with the organization’s values, mission, vision, and strategic plan 
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants and other fundraising activity that raises $400,000 annually.
  • Utilize Salesforce and Pardot database to create records, record cash/in-kind contributions, send acknowledgments, and track actions and contacts, keep financials up to date and categorized appropriately
  • Recruit candidates for board of directors’ positions and manage board related processes and programs
  • Advise and assist on foundation and corporate grants
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

 Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • +7 years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
  • Strong skills in Salesforce and Pardot
  • Ability to construct, articulate, and implement annual strategic development plan
  • Previous history of raising $400,000 or more annually as an individual goal supported by collective efforts. 
  • Tangible experience of having expanded and cultivated existing donor relationships over time
  • Experience in e-commerce, B2B

Role and Responsibilities
Working with the Fulfillment Associates and volunteers to help manage the logistics of
events. Merchandise is sold at these events to help fund our nonprofit and charitable
work. The Fulfillment Manager is responsible for helping execute daily operations in

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • The ability to work a non-standard work week including being on call during event times to cover emergencies

  • Strong technical aptitude or ability to learn technical software systems and processes
  • Associate degree or equivalent professional experience

This position assists with the creation PR and social media products and services including – news releases, media relations, event management and drafting and managing social media.

The intern will work directly with the CEO in conjunction with the COO who will oversee the intern program with additional support and interaction with the Director of Content Development.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in developing, writing, distributing approved press releases
  • Assist with Media relations
  • Connect and contact Influencers, You Tube personalities, Podcasters, and Media to create opportunities to spread awareness of the organization and its mission

The Client Retention and Acquisition Intern will be a part of the Sales team. Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
  • Working closely with the Manager or assigned staff member, and completing all allocated tasks.
  • Conducting desktop research, gathering information, & list building.
  • Identify Decision Makers within potential customer’s organizations.
  • Identifying potential clients using Social Media and internet research.
  • Cold calling & emailing potential clients.
  • Updating documents and internal records using Salesforce.
  • Building prospect lists to identify new business opportunities.
  • Create outreach strategies.

The intern will attend staff meetings, have access to their mentor, attend regularly scheduled meetings with their manager and have weekly meetings with other interns.

The role will also support the organization by providing assistance with events management, execution, communication and design. The intern will work directly with the Executive Assistant to the CEO and the COO who will oversee the intern program. Additionally, will work directly with the CEO.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
  • Assist with special projects as assigned
  • Update and create Ppts for client/donor presentations
  • Create database in Salesforce
  • Assist in event planning for CEO
  • Assist in the program content development for events, solicit sponsors, create and coordinate the drafting/distribution of promotional materials, sell tickets
  • Assist with donor acknowledgement and guest follow-up

This position assists with the creation of HR materials and services including – employee handbook, policies, job descriptions and employee satisfaction, as well as day to day updating of employee records and helping create advisory boards.

The intern will work directly with the COO who will oversees HR at this time, and the intern program.

Responsibilities (include but not limited to):
  • Update our internal databases employee information, including contact details and employment forms
  • Assist with screening of resumes and application forms
  • Schedule and confirm interviews with candidates
  • Assist with preparation of HR-related reports as needed
  • Review and distribute company policies in digital formats or hard copies including employee handbook and job descriptions
