Role and Responsibilities
Reporting directly to the Founder, the Director of Speaking Engagements will dedicate most of their working time to securing speaking engagements for because I said I would speakers. We are looking to continue to build upon our success of booking speaking engagements in which 100% of the speaking fee goes to our nonprofit. The Director of Speaking Engagements will strategically handle over 600 requests per year and build upon current relationships and develop new strategic ways to promote and book speaking engagements to benefit the nonprofit. Other responsibilities include the following:
• Builds relationships with organizations from inbound speaking requests that come to us through our website, event tables, emails, social media messages, referrals and more.
• Generates new cold or warm speaking engagement opportunity leads by researching events that require an inspirational keynote speaker or leadership workshop expert in industries, geographies or event dates that are of interest to because I said I would.
• Cultivates strong and long-lasting relationships with speaker bureaus (talent agencies) who bring event opportunities to because I said I would.
• Provides superior customer service to individuals representing speaking engagements in an honest, caring, detailed, timely and professional manner.
• Develops and executes detailed and sometimes unique contracts for speaking engagements
• Manages Salesforce CRM database of all speaking opportunities and contacts by logging notes and detailed information in account opportunities, creating informative reports, utilizing Salesforce apps that increase productivity and creating dashboards that make priorities clear.
• Negotiates speaking engagement contracts in a manner that brings higher value to the organization through revenue, partnerships, advertising, merchandise or other agreements that generate value for one or both organizations involved.
• Leads multiple direct reports including the Event Manager and Fulfillment Manager to maximize the number of speaking opportunities and the depth of value the organization gets from each opportunity (e.g., book sales, additional speech opportunities while traveling to a particular city, etc.)
• Develops and implements long term and short term strategies for the organization that meets revenue targets through initiatives that account for internal and external strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
• Leverages Salesforce CRM to develop automated and up-to-date financial forecasts of the speaking engagement pipeline in a manner that informs the Executive Team and their financial and investment decision making process.
• Makes the sales and marketing process (related to speaking engagements) more efficient and effective by working with our Chief Technology Officer to automate or improve workflow processes in Salesforce.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university.
• Four to ten years of sales experience and/or training in business-to-business industry with high-value accounts; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• He/she must be extremely detail-oriented and able to simultaneously manage dozens of business transactions and relationships.
• Ability to motivate and create a positive atmosphere with the Speaking Engagement Team in the midst of ambitious goals and internal and external challenges that arise.
• Honestly persuasive and appropriately emotional sales skills through empathetic communication.

Role and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Founder & CEO, the Director of Development serves as a critical team member and an active participant in making strategic decisions for because I said I would. In partnership with the Founder, this position is responsible for board development, all fundraising and development activities. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships to build because I said I would’s visibility, impact, and financial resources. The Director of Development will design and implement a comprehensive plan for developing key external alliances by cultivating individual and philanthropic support.

The Director of Development will have primary responsibility for establishing and implementing the foundation needed to grow a 2 million in funding through the solicitation of major gifts, federal and state grants, special events, and corporate and foundation support.

This position will diversify because I said I would funding sources and work closely with other team members to secure funding for new initiatives. In addition, the Director of Development will work closely with the board of directors and support board members as they take on a more active fundraising role.

It is expected that the amount raised by because I said I would will increase in future years as the Director of Development systematically and effectively strengthens the organization's overall fundraising capacity.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• Actively work with the Executive Leadership Team to develop and implement a comprehensive development strategy to include corporate, foundation, government grants and other fundraising activity that raises $400,000 annually.
• Build relationships with corporation and major donors according to a fundraising process
• Recruit candidates for board of directors’ positions and manage board related processes and programs
• Create fundraising programs that can be executed by Chapter members in geographically distributed areas.
• Establish a grant writing process, write grants to support our chapter program and character education programming.
• Act as an internal consultant for all charitable program to recommend improvements to increase impact an make it easier to secure funding for programs
• Collaborate with the Founder to develop and implement because I said I would’s financial strategy
• Create detailed financial forecasts to help position because I said I would ahead of major funding changes or trends
• Monitor all donor information; provide and present statistical analysis to Board and Executive Leadership Team
• Develop and implement a stewardship program aimed at cultivating deeper ties with donors
• Manage and influence employees, volunteers and stakeholders
• Manage current and future direct reports, including the bookkeeper

Qualifications and Education Requirements
• Bachelor's degree required
• +7 years of professional experience in a nonprofit organization; demonstrated success in a development function (managing and forging relationships with multiple donor sources)
• Previous history of raising $400,000 or more annually as an individual goal supported by collective efforts.

The Executive Assistant acts as right hand to Founder, Alex Sheen, creating and managing his 7-day workweek schedule. Role and Responsibilities
The Event Manager will dedicate most of their working time to securing speaking engagements, book signings, donor engagements and other events for because I said I would speakers. Secondary responsibilities include planning and day-of operations for events related to fundraising, volunteer projects and/or other gatherings.
• Executes warm-calling and cold-calling campaigns searching for speaking engagements for speakers, including events with schools, colleges, prisons, juvenile detention centers, nonprofits, companies and associations. This also includes writing email or text campaigns to support calling efforts.
• Responds to inbound speaking engagement requests and negotiates contracts to maximize value for the nonprofit, including rates, scheduling needs, merchandise upsells and other add-ons.
• Maximizes CEO’s time during a visit to a city by booking additional podcast interviews, media interviews, book signings, meetings with donors and other public and private engagements.
• Creates and manages fundraising events in a well-documented fashion so that we can create repeatable success.
• Create and manage other events that correspond to the changing flow of new opportunities and needs of the organization
• Follows and helps improve established speaking engagement management process through Salesforce with the support of other systems and documents (e.g., contracts)
• Develops and executes contracts for speaking engagements while ensuring 100% accuracy of information and clear agreement between parties

As a Communications Intern you will be responsible for the ongoing communication for the promotion of the local BISIW Chapters through digital and traditional channels including but not limited to Facebook, Community Boards, Flyers, Press Releases and E-mail. The Communications Leader must be available 5-10 hours per week.

• Curating relevant and local content for the individual Chapter Facebook pages
• Assisting in the creation of the monthly media guide sent to all other communications volunteers
• Interacting with media channels on behalf of BISIW by sending out press releases as well as drafting and pitching stories on our volunteer projects

• Preparing event supplies for shipment
• Assisting with special projects that may include folding, cutting and printing needs
• Packing, weighing, labeling and shipping merchandise and supplies
• Counting promise cards
• Data entry for leads and lead verification
• Uploading event photos and contact information in the database
• Data entry for chapter, speaking engagement, fundraising, newsletter and character education inquiries from events

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Use of MS office suite – basic Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
• Candidate must be available for a consistent weekly schedule (can be determined with the Fulfilment Manager).
• Detail oriented with numbers

Preferred Skills

• Experience with shipping procedures and protocol
• Salesforce experience a plus
