Role and Responsibilities

Reporting directly to the Founder, the Director of Speaking Engagements will dedicate most of their working time to securing speaking engagements for because I said I would speakers. We are looking to continue to build upon our success of booking speaking engagements in which 100% of the speaking fee goes to our nonprofit. The Director of Speaking Engagements will strategically handle over 600 requests per year and build upon current relationships and develop new strategic ways to promote and book speaking engagements to benefit the nonprofit. Other responsibilities include the following:

Responsibilities
  • Builds relationships with organizations from inbound speaking requests that come to us through our website, event tables, emails, social media messages, referrals and more.
  • Generates new cold or warm speaking engagement opportunity leads by researching events that require an inspirational keynote speaker or leadership workshop expert in industries, geographies or event dates that are of interest to because I said I would.
  • Cultivates strong and long-lasting relationships with speaker bureaus (talent agencies) who bring event opportunities to because I said I would.
  • Provides superior customer service to individuals representing speaking engagements in an honest, caring, detailed, timely and professional manner.
  • Develops and executes detailed and sometimes unique contracts for speaking engagements
  • Manages Salesforce CRM database of all speaking opportunities and contacts by logging notes and detailed information in account opportunities, creating informative reports, utilizing Salesforce apps that increase productivity and creating dashboards that make priorities clear.
  • Negotiates speaking engagement contracts in a manner that brings higher value to the organization through revenue, partnerships, advertising, merchandise or other agreements that generate value for one or both organizations involved.
  • Leads multiple direct reports including the Event Manager and Fulfillment Manager to maximize the number of speaking opportunities and the depth of value the organization gets from each opportunity (e.g., book sales, additional speech opportunities while traveling to a particular city, etc.)
  • Develops and implements long term and short term strategies for the organization that meets revenue targets through initiatives that account for internal and external strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
  • Leverages Salesforce CRM to develop automated and up-to-date financial forecasts of the speaking engagement pipeline in a manner that informs the Executive Team and their financial and investment decision making process.
  • Makes the sales and marketing process (related to speaking engagements) more efficient and effective by working with our Chief Technology Officer to automate or improve workflow processes in Salesforce.

  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or university.
  • Four to ten years of sales experience and/or training in business-to-business industry with high-value accounts; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • He/she must be extremely detail-oriented and able to simultaneously manage dozens of business transactions and relationships.
  • Ability to motivate and create a positive atmosphere with the Speaking Engagement Team in the midst of ambitious goals and internal and external challenges that arise.
  • Honestly persuasive and appropriately emotional sales skills through empathetic communication.
  • Decisive and strong communicator – both written and verbal.
  • Ability to detect problems and potential trouble spots that would impede the ability to execute contracts/events.
  • Strong time management skills through extremely detailed calendaring.

Fulfillment Associate

Job Title: Fulfillment Associate
Location: Rocky River, Ohio
Level/Salary Range: $12-14/hour
Travel Required: 0 – 5%
Work hours: Part-time, some evening and weekend hours required approx. 20 – 25 hours

Role and Responsibilities

Working with the Fulfillment Manager will help manage the logistics of over 100 events a year. Merchandise is sold at these events to help fund our nonprofit and charitable work. The Fulfillment Associate is responsible for helping execute daily operations in these areas including but not limited to:

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with event organizers at client organizations for speaking engagements to ensure event details related to the merchandise and resource table are fulfilled
  • Partner with shipping vendor to ensure merchandise and resource materials are shipped to event organizers and arrive at correct location on time
  • Secure, schedule and train volunteers to staff the because I said I would Resource Table at events across the country
  • Assist in managing the fulfillment process that sends out products, promise cards and other necessary shipments
  • Train and maintain a schedule of volunteers based on order volumes to ensure promise cards and other necessary shipments arrive to requester on time
  • Monitor inventory
  • Ensure that Salesforce records are current and up to date as it relates to fulfillment and volunteers
  • Communicate with customers over email, on the phone, or in person to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Manage the online retail store
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • The ability to work a non-standard work week including being on call during event times to cover emergencies
  • Able to lift 35 – 60 pounds
  • Strong technical aptitude or ability to learn technical software systems and processes
  • Associate degree or equivalent professional experience
  • Excellent organization skills and experience with event, inventory and vendor management
  • Strong ability to manage simultaneous/spontaneous projects and work assignments with grace under pressure
  • Must be detail-oriented, resourceful and highly organized
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, professional working environment
  • Ability to interact with variety of audiences, from college students to senior professionals
Preferred Skills

Qualified candidates will have an outstanding attention to detail, event planning experience, strong verbal and written communication skills, experience in working with vendors and customers and a college education or equivalent work experience. Experience in ecommerce sales and fulfillment (such as eBay, ETSY or other online store), shipping/mailing experience, supervisory experience, or retail management experience. Experience in developing a promotional product line and/or product marketing plan.

  • Connect and contact Influencers, You Tube personalities, Podcasters, and Media to create opportunities to spread awareness of the organization and its mission
  • Researching developing a Social Media strategy, presenting the plan to the CEO

  • Update our internal databases employee information, including contact details and employment forms
