Sewing Face Masks

Because I said I would is promising to support the efforts of making a million face masks to help during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Hospitals and health care centers are calling on individuals to sew cloth face masks to help offset the shortage.

Because I said I would is taking a multi-prong approach to our face mask initiative:

  • First, we are looking for local sewers and groups to partner with who can help sew face masks to be donated to several Cleveland-area hospitals and health care centers. We have received a large donation of fabric and will provide free fabric kits.
  • Second, we have volunteer opportunities for those who are local but cannot sew and want to help. This includes helping with the pick up and delivery of fabric and masks, as well as cutting and kit assembly.
  • Last, we are also accepting donations to help fund the purchasing of more supplies and materials for our mask initiative.

If you are not from the Cleveland area, but want to do your own part, we have resources and ways for you to help create and donate face masks to hospitals in your own community. Resources include our individual action plan that walks you through getting started as well as an easy to follow video tutorial and written instructions.
