The resolve and courage to storm the beach…

“I retired as a Major from the US Air Force and cared for casualties in Iraq north of Baghdad in 2006. I also cared for casualties from the Vietnam war while a Navy Corpsman 1968-1972. I had wanted to serve since my dad was a tail gunner in WWII and his brother was among the soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy. I felt that it would honor him and others to go and visit someday. I am glad that I did because I realize with greater clarity, their resolve and courage to storm the beach against a heavily entrenched and formidable enemy. They overcame almost impossible odds. It is no wonder they could not speak of what they saw, what they had to do or return and try to be normal citizens under the burden of their losses.”
