He was 6 years old and fighting for his life…

On Valentine’s Day 1998, Chris was diagnosed with (Acute Lymphoblastic) Leukemia. He was 6 years old at the time. As a child dealing with a life threatening illness, part of your life may stop completely, but kids still love to make friends. When Chris saw a close friend of his relapse from a similar illness, it was the first time doubt crept in that he may not fully recover. But something was in his favor…

“Children don’t really understand the constructs of cancer. The don’t always understand the severity either”, Chris said. He believes part of the reason he had such tremendous hope was because he didn’t completely understand how bad things were. Now, at the age of 26 and fully recovered, Chris continues to live out his promise and is thankful for every day he gets to do so.

“I will always love and support families going through life threatening illness.”
