“I have been overseeing the COVID-19 staff and patients from the beginning. The job in itself is very rewarding and at times overwhelming, as we return home to our families, but all still worth it. For some of the patients, we are the only family they see, so it important that we provide the love, genuine compassion, support, human kindness, and respect that they need. At the end of the day I love nursing because I said I would promise to take care of others when they needed it the most and I have done just that. I am also the advocate for our patients, no matter their gender, race, age, ethnicity, background, genetics, etc., each and every patient will be taken care of to the best of my abilities…”

This message was sent to us on July 10th, 2020. Imagine every day that has passed from that day to this. Imagine feeling like it might be over, but then the case count explodes again. Imagine looking at your family and hoping it didn’t come home with you. Thank you to all the healthcare workers who have cried at night trying to hold on to a promise. History will look back on you in reverence. They will build statues to pay honor to what you have done.
