In April of 2015, Alex visited the Philippines for a speaking engagement. While there, the host escorted Alex around the city of Tacloban to help Alex better understand the culture and climate since being decimated by a Super Typhoon 18 months prior.
Alex toured an orphanage where children had gone through unimaginable tragedy – some of them were abandoned at hospitals after the natural disaster, others have been turned over to the orphanage because they have been physically or sexually abused. Alex talked with the children about their promises and in turn, made a promise to them.
Because I said I would promised to help build a playground at the orphanage where these kids had gone through so much – a promise to a safe place to play. A place of their own. The donation agreement was finalized in June of 2016 and the donation made in July of that year.
