Sometimes life is unfair. Challenges are often thrown our way, and sometimes it seems that the people who deserve the least trouble encounter the most terrible hardships. It is entirely inexplicable as to why bad things happen to good people.
Last month, a woman named Jenny reached out to because I said I would. Jenny is a single mother, raising her eight year old son on her own. Her son is a survivor of physical, mental, and sexual abuse. Even worse, his abuser was his father. Jenny moved her son away from his father and now has him in counseling. Her son’s fight is not yet over, though. He suffers from an anxiety/depressive disorder called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD symptoms include feeling numb, being on the lookout for danger, and fearing for your own safety; things an eight year old child should never feel.
A domestic abuse survivor herself, Jenny reached out to because I said I would in the hope that the promise cards will help the two of them move forward together. That’s what this movement is all about: support. If our promise cards can help Jenny find the strength to help her son move forward, and help her son find the courage to overcome his PTSD, then the cards have done their job.
